Lake Texoma was the site of a tragic Jet Ski accident this past weekend that resulted in the death a 19 year old Sherman man and serious injuries to a 20 year old man also from Sherman, Texas. According to reports the men were jumping boat waves on their jet skis and collided.
For more coverage go here.
We at Lake Texoma Striper Fishing Blog give our prayers to the families. We also hope others will remember this tragedy and be extremely safe when boating or jet skiing on Lake Texoma.

Last few trips have been somewhat difficult, getting to the fish, with the high winds here. I have gotten lots of fish, most limits of 10 fish per person, somewhat small, but getting better with each warming day. Bait is plentiful, but stocking it for the hard times coming. All fish are in great shape, with the smaller ones still hardy, and a great filet. My lodging at Little Mineral has been accepted as a great place to stay. I can use it as free lodging option if necessary. Right now it works great, lower than anywhere else on the lake, and clean. Good Fishing…."JD"

Good fishing, some small, but getting all over 20s also. Had lots of fun, with weather clearing a little. Using live shad, anchored, with some drift fishing. Weekend beginning to get busy with other boater, skiers, speed boats, etc., causing some distractions, and scattering fish, but thats life.
Enjoy the photos, of my recent charters. "JD"

Malone Williamson group, had a good time until the high winds ran us off. It was catch and release, but someone kept a few for a little snack later.

Well for three from Nebraska, who spent more time waiting for the rain to stop, just to be faced with poor results; for the two who spent two days, long lining, in coves to escape the high winds; to the 5 who went with me in the worse waves I have seen in some time; to the four from nearby, who fought the fog with me, just to hide in a cove to escape boats running too fast in the fog; I ask you to return for a free day, even tho I worked hard, and stayed long, but still feel this is the best fishing hole in the country. April 5, it all came together, as four arrived to beautiful weather, fish biting bait, and limiting on some small, and some large 7-8 pounders fish. I just love fishermen, as they all like being on the water, accepting the results, and understand its not all about just catching fish.

This past couple of Spring Break Weeks we have seen alot more fishermen along with pleasure boaters out enjoying the beauty of Lake Texoma. The current lake level is at 618.44 with a water temperature of 55 degrees. We have had a couple of tough fishing days and a couple of rough weather days but overall we have had some great Spring Break striper fishing. With the warmer days water temperature is steadily getting warmer, putting the fish in a better mood or at least getting them in a biting mood.

This last ten days of fishing has been fair to good. I have fished the last five days in a row, with both morning and afternoon trips. We had real good results on some days and had to work really hard to catch a few fish the others which is typical for this time of the year. The current lake level is at 614.51 with a water temperature of 49 degrees. With warmer weather this past week, it has been beautiful out on Lake Texoma.

A court ruling on the Clean Water Act poses a serious threat to recreational boating.
A recent court ruling about pollution being dumped from commercial ship ballas water will also require all recreational boats to get permits by September, 2008—despite the fact that 99% of recreational boats do not have ballast tanks.
We all know that boats and ships are different, and shouldn’t be treated the same. These permits were originally intended for commercial ships that have brought harmful invasive water species into U.S. waters but do the the court ruling are being developed to levy a tax on your boat’s engine cooling water, bilge water and deck runoff. This tax will seriously impact boating participation by requiring you to pay an annual $800 permit unless Congress acts quickly.
Learn the facts on how this could affect you and get involved to help get this fixed. Below are some links we have found that have good information on this act.

The past few weeks of February and first two days of March brought us wonderful weather. We are in for couple of rough days but warming towards week end. The current lake level is at 614.25 with a water temperature of 48 degrees. The striper fishing has been very good for me when using live bait. If you like sandbass, now is a good time to go fishing for them. I have caught just as good numbers of good sized healthy looking sand bass also fishing off the creek banks and ledges.

It is one week until Valentines Day and do you have that special someone something for Valentines Day? How about a great fishing adventure for that special someone. We have gift certificates that would make a great gift. Better yet surprise that special someone by whisking them away for a night in one of our rooms just the two of you and then have a fun day fishing.

It has been several weeks since my last Lake Texoma fishing report. Our current lake level is at 614.40 with a water temperature of 44 degrees. I have had little success with lures this past month, an occasional decent day but nothing to really brag about. So back to bait fishing…. My preference this time of year is Gizzard Shad. although Threadfin Shad will work they seem to get weak after a couple of hours in the bait tank while the Gizzards are good and frisky.

Well here I am with JoLean sitting in a booth at Claremore Oklahoma, at a fishing/hunting show, advertising my business, wishing my ole buddies would call and book a fishing trip where I wouldn't have to go out and work so hard. I have sat here for an hour and handed out 1 broshure, so guess these okies dont fish much. There is no doubt I have lots of dates open, since a lot of my fishing friends thought I was done for after last fall….and I do mean fall. But I am back, better than ever, working out with weights, doing 12 oz curls, well right now for instance. I hope each of you are doing well, and getting plans together for that big time out on the water, with the #1 fishing guide at Texoma. just has a good sound about it, dont it? Let get that group together and go fishing, as I have bought a new house, and need the money! Free lodging if you book within the next two weeks. Give me a call…....JD

I have to apologize for being tardy, but with fishing and trying to get my new house ready to move into, I got behind. With this cooler weather the last couple of weeks, the fishing for stripers on Lake Texoma has been exceptionally good. The water temp is around 50 degrees with a lake elevation of around 615.5 feet above sea level.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
We hope all our friends and customers had a great Christmas and Holidays and we wish you all the best for the New Year. December has been a little slow as usual but we did have a few fishermen to brave the weather. We had 89 fishermen to date this month and they brought in 770 stripers to the cleaning table. December 4th L.E. Wehling and his group fished with us for two days bringing in 76 stripers. On December 8th Dan Clear brought his boys up to fish with us taking home 30 stripers. Webb Lockwood and his group fished on December 15th and brought in 32 stripers and one sand bass that was only .01 lb. of the Lake Texoma record. December 15th was a day for adventures. Tom McCullough and his friends Rusty, Shane, and Bill braved the cold and the wind plus a boat that overheated and had to be moved to another boat. They still brought in their limit of stripers. What a way to spend a Christmas Eve, out fishing on beautiful Lake Texoma. Scott Friedman and his family came in with 50 stripers and Scott was so excited that he gave his fish a big kiss. Tim Sims also brought his boys for a fishing trip on Christmas Eve leaving with 40 stripers to 7 lbs and 11 sand bass. Justin was on leave from our armed forces and we would like to thank him and all our guys and gals in the armed forces.

Last year was a good year with the exception of the flooding and having to cancel trips because of a fall I took, but I am ready to return and guide again. Wanting a nice charter with an experienced guide, please call, or email promptly to insure a good date. Check my web site for some photos of the flood of 2007, to show what most of the guides had to contend with! We were fishing in trees from submerged campgrounds, picking customers up off banks, taxi to and from our boats, but the stripers did not know it, as they were biting good, mostly on artificial bait. Enjoy the pictures and call for Spring Specials, and booking starting for this year. "JD"

Another fantastic week of striper fishing on Lake Texoma. The water temp is 54 degrees with a current level of 616.02 feet above sea level. Even after the full moon this month our stripers haven't missed a beat.
